A Note From James:

My name is James Garcia, a Classical-Flamenco guitarist for over 25 years and have honed my craft so that I can share my music with you. Along my journey I have learned that there are several truisms in life. We need air to breathe, food to eat and fuel for the heart. I deal with the third and vital truism, fuel of the heart. Music is the real soul food and can be found everywhere from out in nature, to the breath of a loved one or the strum of a well tuned guitar.

If you want passionate, heart-felt music at your event, or to book a private lesson, feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

See my separate pages for details about each type of offering. Samples of my music are HERE. Further music samples are available on request.

My world view is one of hope, love, and empathy. My vision is that the passionate and reflective qualities of my songs will bring listeners inward to discover the similarities among humans, creating more peace and ease in the world.

I look forward to our meeting soon.

Yours Truly,

About

I began my Classical Guitar life at Metropolitan State College of Denver, where I studied with virtuoso guitarist Alex Komodore. During my studies, I had the wonderful opportunity to perform in several master classes with world-class artist such as David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Paul Galbraeth, Adam Del Monte and more.

After Graduating with a B.M in Classical Guitar Performance in 2005, I moved to Spain to further explore the music I have loved and devoted my life to.

My two-year journey began in Spain’s southern region of Andalucía, where I spent several months performing (Classical) and studying Flamenco guitar from various teachers in Malaga, Granada and Sevilla. I have been fortunate enough to play the Recuerdos de La Alhambra while on the river beneath the actual fortress. I eventually settled in Barcelona and learned to just relax and enjoy every note I play, whether it be days of playing on a boat in the Mediterranean, or learning new styles from great musicians from around the world.

My inquisitiveness and unending wanderlust have now led me to Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Based in Eugene, I am currently building my practice here through teaching and performing my life’s passion.

Throughout my musical career and many trials and travels I have been influenced by numerous styles besides Classical Guitar, such as, Flamenco, South American, World Music, Jazz etc… “I play from my heart and consider myself continually a student as well as a teacher.”

“The song of the bird in the open tree is the one that brings true music to the ear, while the one in the cage is but a sad imitation”.

Ed Ahenakew, Cree Nation

Events

The range of music that I play is a classy balance for any event. I play a blend of traditional Classical, Flamenco, South American, world music and so on. I have performed at venues such as, The Denver Starz Film Festival (2008, and 2010), Iris Vineyards, Civic Winery, Sweet Cheeks, Capitello Wines, Gold Beach and The finest art galleries, country clubs, private parties, vineyards, corporate events and fundraisers. Not to mention scores of weddings (see weddings info below).

I have a professional stereo sound system and can accommodate any size event (from small, intimate venues to large outdoor festivals). I can provide music while I’m not playing (mp3) for background during infrequent breaks, and I do bring an extra microphone for speeches or announcements during the affair.

The typical price for an event is $300 but can vary in either direction depending upon location, and circumstances.

Weddings

I have been honored to play for many weddings in the United States and various countries around the world. I understand that it is truly one of the most unforgettable and significant days of a person’s life.

The standard model for a wedding includes:

  • The Prelude, which is generally 15-30 minutes of music as guests arrive (Classical, Baroque and Spanish Romantic selections work well).
  • The Processional piece for the bridesmaids
  • The Processional piece for the bride. I have a variety of pieces to choose from for example; Pachabel’s Canon in D, or Jesu Joy to Mans Desire by Bach and more. Not to mention a selection of original pieces.
  • The Recessional piece
  • A selection of music during the candle lighting or meditation.
  • If requested I will make every effort to accommodate any special music requests. Certain requests could require extra preparation and charges may apply.   FEES:
  • $200.00* for a standard wedding. (This includes bringing my sound system, which is also available to the party for the ceremony).
  • $150.00* if no music equipment is required.
  • I am also available to play for the reception or cocktail hour following the ceremony

*Additional charges may apply for travel beyond 35 miles from Eugene.

Best to book early.
