I have had the privilege of studying with James for the past 2 years. Starting lessons, again, as an adult involved relearning a lifetime of “bad habits” in my Flamenco study. What I gained from my weekly lessons were the ideas of breaking down a flamenco passage into each phrase and measure: making sure that each is completed successfully, note by note, in compass, before moving to the next. James is calm and composed, extremely musically literate with a very strong knowledge of music theory. He was able to correct many of my bad habits, especially that of learning patience with myself learning to play with intention. I would recommend James Garcia as a teacher without any reservation whatsoever.
